There are plenty of really interesting places to visit whilst you are in Dubai. Below are just a few of our favourites. Get away from the usual haunts & see what Dubai really has to offer!
When Global Village started in 1996 it was situated beside the Dubai Creek, and incorporated small independant kiosks, selling products from various countries around the World. Over 1/2million people visited the Global Village as it was then. Today the Global Village stands alone on the edge of Dubailand and is a visitor attraction in itself. Visitor figures have increased annually and the number of countries participating has also grown. In 2008 over 4.5 million people passed through the gates of Global Village and there were 39 different countries displaying their unique handicrafts and products.
The Dubai museum is situated in Bur Dubai. Here you can witness how Dubai used to look less than 50 years ago. The museum is incorporated in Al Sahidi Fort. The Fort was built in the late 18th century and was in the past a seat for the government and the rulers main residence. The restored fort now provides a fascinating insight into olden days in Dubai.

The heritage village incorporates a small museum showing ancient artefacts from as far back as 550bc. The diving village displays historical features relating to the industry within Dubai when locals dived for pearls in the Gulf.
The spice souk is situated on the north side of Dubai creek and is very close to the gold souk. You will be overwhelmed by the selection of spices such as ginger and frankinsence. They are all displayed in huge sacks and the fragrance fills the air from morning till night.
The best way to see the many impressive buildings along the Creek is from the waterway itself. Climb aboard a local Abra which is a small barge powered by a diesel engine that can hold up to 20 people and crosses from either side of the creek. From the Abra, you will be amazed at the sights on either side of the creek. It is particularly enjoyable late in the evening and even more so when the shopping festival is in full swing as a firework display is launched from the middle of the creek at 8pm every evening (please see our global village update).
This area is 45 mins drive from Dubai. It overlooks the nearby mountains and Hatta Fort Hotel is currently Dubai’s only mountain resort complex.
