Written accounts show that Dubai as a city existed 150 years prior to the formation of the UAE. There are documented records of a town known as Dubai from 1799 however back then Dubai was nothing more than a small outpost and a traditional fishing village.

Imagine looking back and then comparing what you see today. Dubai is truly one of the new wonders of the world. Should you decide to move to the UAE then Dubai can offer you a wealth of riches. Just imagine walking through the gulf waters as the sun slowly sets on the horizon, the warm air brushing your face and the bath like water temperature lapping against your feet.

You turn to the left and can see some of the most amazing man- made structures the world has ever seen, from the luxury of the Burj Al Arab to the worlds tallest building Burj Dubai. Then cast your eyes to the right across a flat sandy desert with golden sand dunes and camel footsteps glistening in the sand. Does this sound like heaven on earth? the people who live here truly believe Dubai is now the most cosmopolitan luxury city on the planet.

Dubai is so diverse there is something here for everyone, the city already has a large expatriate community, showing the world that Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Christians can all live together in peace and harmony. Visit the country first and be inspired by the wealth and then enchanted by the warmth of the people. To this very day we have not met anybody who has not been welcomed and enjoyed the hospitality of what is the UAE's jewel in the crown.

Dubai as you all know is famous for oil, and in 1971 together with Abu Dhabi and five other Emirates they formed the UAE when Britain eventually left Gulf in 1971. From here the UAE adopted a standard currency know as the Dirham, and the area continued to prosper in the oil industry.

However tourism has since become a major benefit for Dubai and with the oil running out Dubai has pushed forward the Country as the must see tourist resort on the planet. There is a wealth in the region that will leave you astounded and very little poverty, add to this the beautiful weather and the knowledge that Dubai is more than 120km from any seismic fault line and the persian gulf waters are not deep enough to trigger any Tsunamis. This ensures the protection of the state and any tourists or people deciding to move here.

Dubai offers so much and continues to grow. By the year 2010 Dubai expects to have a tourism trade over 25 million and a diverse population that can only prosper from this truly magnificent City. Even in the current difficult economic climate, Dubai keeps on growing!

We hope you enjoy this Expat section and find it informative. We strive to keep the information up to date and work closely with the tourism and government of Dubai to ensure you are kept fully up to date with any issues or views we believe you should know about.
